Theo Clark is an educational leader with nearly two decades of experience in curriculum and assessment reform in Queensland, with the past decade focused primarily on senior secondary education and the Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) system. He has led large teams responsible for the design, review and quality assurance of senior syllabuses, internal (school-based) assessment and external assessment across all learning areas, with a strong focus on validity, reliability and comparability. Earlier work includes leadership contributions to Queensland’s implementation of the Australian Curriculum and statewide initiatives in STEM, cognitive thinking, moderation and feedback, the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline (QKLG), and support for students with disability. Prior to this, Theo worked as a science and mathematics teacher in Queensland and England and taught in Initial Teacher Education programs at the University of Queensland and Griffith University. He holds a PhD from the University of Queensland exploring reform in science education, with a focus on assessment as a critical “tipping point” in curriculum change.
