The Smith Family’s proven, trusted and impact-driven approach

The Smith Family is a national children’s education charity that has been supporting young Australians for more than 100 years. They help students overcome educational inequality caused by poverty by providing the financial, personal and practical support they need to stay engaged with their learning. 

They support almost 72,000 students across Australia through their flagship Learning for Life program, so they have a deep understanding of the educational barriers that students experiencing disadvantage face. The digital divide is one of the most pressing. That's why they've set a strategic goal: for all Learning for Life students to be digitally included.

Benefits for your school, university or institution

As well as helping to bridge the digital divide for Australian students experiencing disadvantage, device donation could also enrich your students’ learning and outcomes in digital literacy modules, service learning programs, Civics & Citizenship or Social Justice units, or STEM and technology subjects. 

You’ll also receive a customised Impact Certificate which outlines the number of devices donated, the number of refurbished devices delivered to students, the estimated e-waste diverted from landfill, and the estimated carbon emissions avoided. It’s an easy way to see the tangible impact of your generosity, and could be used in sustainability reporting, annual statements or shared with your community.
