In June 2024, the Department of Education, Victoria published new requirements for Victorian government schools around the use of generative AI tools. The department's policy complements the Australian Framework for Generative AI in Schools, by providing practical advice about how schools that choose to implement generative AI tools can do so in a safe and responsible manner.
During this session participants (from all schools and sectors) are invited to learn about the department's approach, why they have adopted it, and what it means for schools using and responding to this technology. Specific focus will be given to:
Discover what deep fakes are and the serious risks they pose. Learn how school filters and cloud scanning technology can protect against these threats. Get practical resources to help teachers, students, and parents detect and combat deep fakes. Understand the importance of addressing these dangers now and the crucial role of AI champions in changing mindsets. Leave with actionable steps to improve digital safety in your school.
