Connecting minds, building tomorrow: the next era of secure digital capability

Kellie Barnes and Bastien Treptel take the stage to unpack what the modern school really looks like and what it now demands.

Their keynote, Connecting minds. Building tomorrow, explores a powerful shift already underway across education.Technology is no longer supporting the classroom. It is the classroom.

From AI-powered learning and real-time collaboration to cloud-connected environments, they’ll show how schools are already evolving and what that unlocks for teachers and students alike.

But with that evolution comes a new reality.Every connection becomes a potential vulnerability.

Drawing on real-world incidents across Australia, Bastien will challenge the way we think about cyber security in education, shifting the conversation from reactive protection to systems that are designed to be secure from the start.

This is more than technology. It’s about protecting communities, building trust, and rethinking responsibility in a connected world.

We’re incredibly proud to have leaders like Kellie and Bastien sharing this level of insight on stage.

  • connection and collaboration is the foundation of the modern school
  • security only works when it’s built into the network, not bolted on
  • digital capability must be safe before it can scale
  • your community is your greatest asset but your biggest threat
