Run in a theatre on the Expo floor, the EduBUILD free-to-attend Expo seminar is designed for architects, designers, and builders to share ideas with education infrastructure developers about building, renovating, maintaining and managing modern learning spaces e.g., school and university buildings, training facilities, educational campuses, playgrounds, sports facilities and library buildings.
This session will explore research being conducted by the Learning Environments Applied Research Network (LEaRN) at the University of Melbourne, including a current ARC Linkage project titled, 'Designing Learning Spaces for Diversity, Inclusion, and Participation', which is drawing on the perspectives of learners, parents, carers, educators, school system leaders, allied health professionals, and importantly people with disability and/or lived experience of supporting learners with disabilities in schools.
What is the purpose of a contemporary school library? What role do physical resources play? How should libraries be designed and how do they function? Drawing on his experience consulting to over 2,000 libraries internationally, Kevin Hennah provides thought provoking advice designed to ensure your project does not equate to a contemporary build housing traditional and often out-dated ideas.
In this session you will gain:
Imagine building a school where the past informs the future, where play is celebrated, where wellbeing is as important as academic achievement, and where modern learning spaces inspire curiosity and collaboration. That's the vision we're bringing to life.
