Duncan McLaren is the owner-operator and General Manager of Econo Lodge Border Gateway Wodonga, a 14-room Econo Lodge franchise within the Choice Hotels network in regional Victoria. As a hands-on hotelier, Duncan is involved across all areas of the business, from day-to-day operations and guest experience through to revenue, technology and ongoing property improvement. He has a particular interest in how technology can make smaller accommodation businesses more efficient while preserving the experience guests expect from hospitality. Econo Lodge Border Gateway Wodonga has been an early adopter of fully integrated property management technology, online check-in and mobile wallet digital room keys, with Duncan focused on using technology to simplify and improve both the guest journey and hotel operations. Econo Lodge Border Gateway Wodonga is a three-time Econo Lodge Hotel of the Year winner, receiving the award in 2020, 2021 and 2024.
