Dr. Trevor Smith is a molecular and cellular immunologist, with over 20 years of research experience in the fields of infectious disease, allergy, autoimmunity and oncology. Trevor has published over 40 articles across these disciplines, with 1000+ citations. Currently, Dr. Smith heads a preclinical research team developing DNA-based prophylactics and therapeutics at Inovio Pharmaceuticals in San Diego, California. Dr. Trevor Smith has extensive product development experience on program-project development grants/contracts from the DARPA and BMGF. Dr. Smith has led multiple internal and external funded preclinical programs developing synthetic DNA-based therapeutics. Trevor received his Bachelor degree in Biochemistry and Immunology from King’s College London, in 1998, and completed his PhD studies at the National Heart and Lung Institute, Imperial College London in 2004. Dr Smith was the recipient of postdoctoral fellowships to investigate the mechanisms involved in immune tolerance at the Torrey Pines and Scripps research institutes in La Jolla, California.
