Dr Samantha Lawes is the Director of Research Development & Partnerships at Kidney Research UK, where she provides strategic leadership across the charity’s research growth areas. She oversees scientific portfolio management, research impact, and the development of key fields including paediatrics, rare and hereditary kidney diseases, and kidney and cancer research. With a diverse career spanning academia, the NHS, and industry, Dr. Lawes has contributed to research across a range of medical fields, including cardiovascular disease, traumatic brain injury, cancer, COVID-19, and mental health. Alongside her role at Kidney Research UK, she is an Associate Lecturer at The Open University, where she teaches Neuroscience, Human Biology, and Psychology.
