Robert Bassey, Vertiport Design Lead, Federal Aviation Administration

Mr. Robert Bassey is a leading government expert in the development and implementation of vertiport design standards. With close to two decades of experience in aviation infrastructure, he plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of advanced air mobility (AAM) in the United States. As the lead engineer for vertiport design at the FAA Airport Engineering Division, Mr. Bassey spearheads initiatives to create safe, efficient, and scalable vertiport design standards that will support the emerging electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft industry.
His expertise bridges engineering and aviation policy ensuring that vertiports meet the rigorous safety, operational and environmental standards necessary for integration into existing airspace. Mr. Bassey also oversees the development of heliport design standards and various other airport engineering standards. His work has led to the development of comprehensive heliport design standards adopted nationwide and serves as the basis for international guidelines. 
Mr. Bassey holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from Syracuse University. His contributions to the development of vertiport and heliport design standards have positioned him as a thought leader in the evolving field of advanced air mobility. He is a frequent speaker at global aviation conferences and authored numerous standard documents and research technical reports.
