Cory Garner is a renowned airline distribution strategist and consultant with a distinguished career at American Airlines, where he pioneered the strategy to disintermediate Global Distribution Systems (GDSs). Notably, Cory authored the industry's first email on New Distribution Capability (NDC) in 2006. Since leaving American in 2020, he has advised more than a dozen airlines globally on their GDS and NDC strategies. As a lifelong disruptor of the GDS and travel agency markets, Cory has developed a deep understanding of which stakeholders are best adapted for commercial and technological change. His distribution strategies are active with airline clients on every continent, driving innovation and success in the aviation industry.
Airlines face significant commercial and technological constraints imposed by PSSs, GDSs, and OTAs, which limit their ability to innovate and control their distribution channels. In this session, we will explore the critical importance of achieving distribution freedom and the strategies to overcome these barriers. We will delve into the historical roots of these constraints and discuss innovative approaches to reclaim control over distribution channels, drive revenue growth, and reduce costs. Additionally, we will share a benchmarking analysis of where airlines currently stand with their distribution relationships and their path toward achieving both commercial and technological freedom. Join us to discover how airlines can break free from traditional limitations and transform their distribution strategies.
