Paul Dionysius is a leader in digital technologies education, having taught in State, Catholic and Independent schools, he is currently serving as the Techonologies Head of Learning Area at Sunshine Coast Grammar School, Queensland. With a career defined by innovation, Paul was recently honoured with the 2024 QCT TEACHX Award for Innovation in Teaching and the Brisbane Catholic Education Excellence Award. He's long been focused on empowering women in technology and building programs that support their specific needs. In 2025, he lead an all-girls elective in Year 8 Digital Technologies. Over 30 girls independently selected the course, representing more than 40% of the Year 8 female cohort. This group of young women achieved significant success, winning numerous awards including the Queensland Premier's Coding Competition and most recently Apple's World Wide Developers Conference Swift Student Challenge. This prestigious competition welcomes secondary and tertiary students worldwide and only 350 winners are named. Martina, a Year 8 student from the 2025 cohort, was one of only ten award winners across Australia and New Zealand and the sole female representative in the region. His pedagogical approach focuses on "coding with purpose," guiding students to build functional software that solves local challenges, from automated school systems to student-led wellbeing apps. Paul bridges the gap between industry standards and classroom practice, ensuring students are not just consumers of technology, but the architects of it.
