Beth Welden is National Program Manager of ForestLearning, an initiative of Forest and Wood Products Australia, where she leads the development of free, innovative, curriculum-aligned resources used by teachers across Australia, including nationally award-winning education initiatives. A qualified secondary teacher and entomologist with over 20 years’ experience spanning education, industry, and government, Beth has built a career connecting classrooms with authentic, real-world contexts. An early adopter of emerging education technologies, Beth is passionate about using edtech not just for engagement, but to build future-ready skills—such as digital literacy, critical thinking, and real-world problem solving—helping students connect learning to meaningful applications and emerging careers. She has led the integration of immersive tools such as ForestVR™, virtual tours, and drone technologies through partnerships like SheMaps, collaborating with organisations including ASTA, GTAV and DATTA Vic to develop Australian Curriculum-aligned resources that embed these technologies and bring sustainability, forestry and manufacturing contexts into the classroom. Beth is particularly driven to showcase the breadth of technologies used across the forest and wood products sector—from digital mapping and remote sensing to advanced manufacturing—helping students see clear pathways from classroom learning to future careers. Her work sits at the intersection of sustainability, innovation and education, equipping teachers with practical tools to inspire the next generation.
