Dr. Jayson Bergania is the current Dean of the College of Innovative Teacher Education OF THE University of Makati, bringing over 27 years of experience in teaching and educational leadership both in the Philippines and internationally, dedicated to shaping the future of teacher education. His academic background includes a Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education major in English, a Master's in Educational Leadership, and a Doctorate in Innovative Educational Management. An American English Alumni, he completed the  Professional Development for Teacher Trainers Course (OPEN Program) by Arizona State University, sponsored by the U.S. Embassy in Manila, and holds two Global Competence Certifications from AFS programs in the U.S. and China. Dr. Bergania was a Dangal ng Bayan Awardee (Outstanding Educator for Teaching Excellence) in 2018, and received the Gawad Banyuhay Award for outstanding Deans in Teacher Education Institutions in 2024 and 2025. He was a 2024 recipient of the Professorial Chair Award in Education by the University of Makati, and was recognized as one of the eight finalists for the Outstanding Educator Award in Higher Education at the Edutech Asia 2025 Awards in Singapore, selected from over 400 nominees across Asia. Beyond his deanship, Dr. Bergania served as a Board of Director for the World University Network for Innovation for Leaders (WUNI-L) by the World University Ranking for Innovation (WURI) based in Korea IN 2024. He currently serves as a Board of Trustee for the American English Alumni Association of the Philippines under the Regional English Language Office of the US Embassy in the Philippines, and a member of the Board of the Makati Local School Board. He is also the incoming Vice Chair of the Professional Association for Teachers and Education (PAFTE) – National Capital Region for 2026-2028, and was recently appointed as a member of the Joint Technical Working Group of the Teacher Education Council (TEC) and the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) for the Reframing of the Quality Assurance in Teacher Education. He also actively shares his expertise as a guest lecturer in Graduate Schools (CCAPS, PNU, Holy Angel University, etc.) and as a resource person in trainings and conferences. A native of Meycauayan, Bulacan, Dr. Bergania is a licensed professional teacher.
