Patrick Mboya Nguku is a dedicated public health professional with over 20 years of experience in epidemiology, disease surveillance, and outbreak response. Currently serving as the Regional Coordinator for the African Field Epidemiology Network (AFENET), Patrick is at the forefront of strengthening public health systems across Africa.

With a background in medicine and a master’s degree in applied Epidemiology , Patrick has a deep understanding of the complexities of infectious diseases and the importance of vaccination in preventing outbreaks. His work at AFENET involves collaborating with governments, international organizations, and local communities to enhance disease surveillance, train field epidemiologists, and improve response strategies.

Patrick is a passionate advocate for global health security and believes in the power of strategic partnerships to drive innovation in the vaccine delivery particularly to the underserved and unreached. He has led numerous initiatives to support the distribution of vaccines, particularly in underserved regions, and is committed to ensuring equitable access to life-saving immunizations for all.

As a speaker at the World Vaccine Congress Europe 2026, Patrick will share his insights on strengthening biological threats preparedness through integrated surveillance and immunization systems focusing on lessons from the African continent.
