Kevin Mugenyi, Senior Epidemiologist, African Field Epidemiology Network (AFENET)

Dr. Kevin Mugenyi is a Senior Epidemiologist, Principal Investigator and Head of the Immunization Team at the African Field Epidemiology Network (AFENET), where he leads immunization systems strengthening initiatives across Africa. He is a medical epidemiologist with over 12 years of experience in public health, with expertise in immunization programmes, disease surveillance, outbreak response, polio eradication, measles and rubella elimination, and introduction of new vaccines. Dr. Mugenyi leads and provides technical oversight for multi-country programmes supporting Ministries of Health to strengthen immunization systems, improve vaccination coverage and equity, enhance disease surveillance, and respond to vaccine-preventable disease outbreaks. His work involves extensive collaboration with national governments and global partners, including CDC, WHO, UNICEF, Gavi, and the Gates Foundation. He has extensive experience translating epidemiological evidence into practical programme strategies and strengthening public health capacity across diverse settings in Africa.
