ABPI

Dan O'Connor is Executive Director Regulation at the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI). He is medically (Leicester) and PhD (Imperial) qualified, and on the specialist register for Pharmaceutical Medicine. He joined the ABPI from the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) in 2023 where he was Deputy Director of the Innovation Accelerator and Regulatory Science. During his time at the MHRA (over 16 years), he held positions at the European Medicine Agency’s (EMA) committees and working parties and contributed to numerous scientific and regulatory project boards. Dan has special interests and expertise in drug development, rare diseases, regulatory science, early access, health innovation and patient engagement. He is Editor-Author of the Oxford Specialist Handbook in Pharmaceutical Medicine and on the editorial board for several journals. Previous roles include a Clinical Lecturer post at UCL, UCH and the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research.
