Aaron Johnston is a P-6 Deputy Principal working on Wonnarua Country. Aaron is in his 17th year of teaching and has worked in a variety of roles across all grades from Kindergarten-Year 6 including classroom teacher, learning & support teacher, wellbeing officer, Assistant Principal & Assistant Principal Curriculum & Instruction.    Aaron has led Aboriginal Education across multiple schools and is a passionate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Affairs ally and advocate. In 2024, he was recognised as Primary Educator of the Year in the annual Koori Curriculum Awards.    He shares is passion, commitment & knowledge online via his social media platform Mr J’s Learning Space where he supports educators through practical ideas and strategies for the classroom & creating resources to improve outcomes for students.    Aaron also hosts the Teacher Takeaway Podcast with fellow educational leaders where he has the opportunity to speak with leading educational experts globally to support the work of schools in meeting the needs of students and transferring evidence based research into practice.    Aaron lives on Darkinjung Country with his wife who is a teacher librarian and his two daughters.
