Tom Brown is a recognised leader in global health procurement and supply chain management with more than 25 years of experience. He is the Owner and Director of Supply Chain Matters Ltd, a consulting firm providing advisory services to global health funders and implementing partners. Tom has held senior leadership roles at Crown Agents, Chemonics International, Abt Associates, the World Bank’s Global Financing Facility, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, where he designed and implemented strategies to strengthen supply chain systems in low- and middle-income countries. His work has spanned over 15 countries across Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, and the Caribbean, driving reforms that improved access to essential medicines, reduced wastage, and enhanced supply chain resilience. Tom lived in Southern Africa for eleven years where he led major transformation programs in government-owned medical procurement and distribution agencies in Botswana and Zambia, delivering measurable improvements in medicine availability and efficiency. Tom has published research on optimal supply chain structures for product distribution and continues to contribute thought leadership through advisory work, publications, and speaking engagements. He holds a Postgraduate qualification in Logistics and Supply Chain Management from Cranfield University and a BA from the University of Reading.
