Dr Ewer is an expert in the human immune response to vaccination and specialises in understanding how immunity translates into protective efficacy. She undertook her PhD on the immunology of T cell responses to TB and co-developed a diagnostic assay for the early detection of TB infection. She has over 15 years’ experience in the development of vaccines for malaria at the Jenner Institute, University of Oxford and has contributed to the development of vaccines against viral pathogens including SARS-CoV-2, MERS, Rabies and Ebola. She now leads the second-generation malaria vaccine program at GSK’s Global Vaccines for Global Health Institute in Siena.
