Hans (JPM) Langedijk is a Biochemist by training and received his PhD in 1993 at the University of Amsterdam and has focused on structure – function relationships of viral surface proteins. Hans has spent more than 13 years with Janssen Vaccines of Johnson & Johnson in Leiden, The Netherlands. As Senior Scientific Director of the Subunit Vaccine Design team, he was responsible for the development of novel protein and vaccine components against HIV, RSV, influenza and other viral targets. Hans pioneered protein engineering in Janssen Vaccines by structure – based protein design including AI/ML models and brought great contributions in the field of structural vaccinology, illustrated in more than 100 scientific articles and over 40 patent applications. Recently, Hans co-founded ForgeBio, a biotech start-up dedicated to protein engineering and vaccine design
