Marcus Schnabel is the CEO of SunExpress, having assumed the role in February 2026. With over 20 years of leadership experience in the aviation industry, he brings extensive expertise across flight and ground operations, safety and security, strategic planning, and operational transformation. He began his career as a commercial pilot with Lufthansa Group in 2000 and progressed through leadership roles at Lufthansa and Swiss International Air Lines, including responsibilities in operations standards, planning, and global performance management. Prior to joining SunExpress, he led Ground Operations at Lufthansa Airlines’ Munich Hub, where he focused on enhancing operational performance and customer experience. Schnabel holds a degree in Business Administration from Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich and FernUniversität Hagen, specializing in Operations Research and Controlling. Holding a commercial pilot license, he combines strategic leadership with deep operational expertise across the aviation industry.
