Malakai is an experienced hotelier with over a decade in the hotel industry and a passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences. Beginning his career in housekeeping and guest services, he quickly rose through the ranks to his current role as Operations Manager for the Realm Precinct at DOMA Hotels, overseeing Hotel Realm, Burbury Hotel & Apartments, Little National Hotel Canberra, and Brassey Hotel. In early 2023, committed to fostering industry collaboration, Malakai spearheaded the establishment of the Canberra Hotels Front Office Network. Building on this momentum, in 2025 he collaborated with YHL Sydney to expand Young Hotel Leaders into the ACT, creating a platform to connect, inspire, and support the next generation of hospitality professionals in Canberra. In 2023, Malakai was honoured with the Excellence Award in Rooms Division at the Tourism Employee Awards and named Young Achiever of the Year at the Canberra Region Tourism Awards.
