Todd Nelson, Education Manager, Ninti One

Todd Nelson is a proud Dunghutti man with ancestral ties to the Yuin nation, raised on Awabakal/Wonnarua country connected to Mindarribba Local Aboriginal Land Council, and residing on Ngunnawal country. With more than 15 years of experience spanning the private, public, and not-for-profit sectors, Todd is recognised nationally for his leadership in embedding First Nations perspectives within workforce development, education policy, formative assessment, program design, and governance.  As Education Division Manager at Ninti One Limited, Todd currently leads the development and implementation of major national initiatives including the First Nation Teacher Strategy, the Preschool Outcomes Measure, and the co-leadership of the evaluation of Closing the Gap (CtG) Schools Initiatives. He also serves as a volunteer board director for UnitingCare Kippax, a charity dedicated to providing family, education, and support services to vulnerable communities in the ACT. Todd’s unique dual expertise, grounded in First Nations knowledges and mainstream strategic management, drives his vision: equitable and empowered futures for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, delivered through sustained systems-level change. As creator of the Both Ways Thinking framework, he is highly sought after for transformative policy innovation, strategic program design, exectuive leadership skills, and advancing culturally responsive systems. His personal integrity as a father, partner, and community leader underpins his professional commitment to authentic inclusion and reconciliation.
