Peter Howes, Principal, Ballina Coast High School

Peter is an experienced school leader who has been focused on reimaging school throughout his career. As a recipient of the NSW Premier's Teacher Scholarship in 2022 Peter travelled across Australia visiting over 30 schools and higher education institutions to explore the impact of reimagined or innovative schools on student outcomes and wellbeing. He has also visited innovative schools internationally. Peter has led high schools in regional areas of NSW to reimagine schools resulting in improved learning culture, engagement and wellbeing. His work has seen numerous awards for the schools he has led. Most recently he has focused on the Peter is committed to inspiring the education community to reimagine schools through sharing of his research and experience. As a leader committed to innovation and student voice Peter’s work has seen him invited to present at various workshops and conferences, the ACEL National Conference, Leading Creative Schools Conference, and the Learning Environments Australasia conference.
