Meg Southcombe, Undergraduate Bachelor of Education (Honour, Mental Health Advocate, Where There’s A Will Ambassador, University of Newcastle

I am passionate about shaping and changing the future through education. I work closely with many young people across NSW, working specifically with regional and rural schools to develop student leadership programs, wellbeing strategies and physical activity interventions.

I look forward to developing my skills further during my current Bachelor degree at the University of Newcastle. During 2023 I was accepted into my honours degree, where I will conduct reserach in physical activity along side Professor David Lubans.

I have appeared numerous times on The Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) 'The Drum' advocating for teachers, wellbeing and physical activity in communities and schools. I continue to work closely with the Where There's a Will organisation which promotes positive education in conjunction with PESA throughout a cluster model approach in Upper Hunter schools.

I currently work at Hunter New England Health in the Secondary Schools research team as a reserach assistant. My work in this team focuses on physical activity implications in secondary school, specifically the Physical ACtivity for Everyone (PA4E1) program implementation and service delivery. I look forward to furthering my passion to expanding my passion and love for student wellbeing and personal health and physical education within Austrlian schools.
