Associate Professor Mark A. Bassett is the Director of Academic Quality, Standards and Integrity, and Academic Lead (Artificial Intelligence) at Charles Sturt University.
His extensive international experience includes serving as Academic Director, Education Partnerships at SAE Global, where he oversaw academic quality across nine international campuses, navigating complex multi-accreditation regulatory environments. With over 17 years in Higher Education leadership, he has taught at undergraduate and postgraduate levels across Australian, US, UK, and UAE institutions, developing a unique understanding of diverse educational systems and quality frameworks.
Prior to his academic career, he spent over a decade at the forefront of commercial audio production at Turtlerock Mastering in Sydney. He holds a PhD in psychoacoustics and a Master of Design Science (Audio & Acoustics)(Hons) from the University of Sydney's Spatial Audio and Acoustics Lab.
An award-winning EdTech developer, Mark combines his technical expertise with educational innovation, creating cutting-edge tools including virtual audio console simulations and AI-powered technical ear training software. As a self-taught programmer, he brings a unique perspective to educational technology development, bridging the gap between academic theory and practical application.
