Jamie Toner, Director of Technology & Innovation, Singapore American School

Jamie Toner serves as the Director of Technology and Innovation bringing a range of experience in harnessing educational technologies and digital innovation to achieve educational excellence and administrative effectiveness. With a background spanning higher education and school settings (PK - 12), encompassing both administrative and teaching roles, Jamie is well-versed in establishing, managing, and leading digital, information, and technology services, as well as facilitating the development of information and digital literacy skills.  Prior to joining Singapore American School (Summer 2024), Jamie was Founding Director of Digital Learning and Information Services at Harrow International School Shenzhen (AISL Group) where he led on numerous cross-organisational information services, digital transformation, and innovation projects. In addition to this, he has held various educational positions across the UK, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East within and around the areas of digital and information services. In 2023, Toner was recognised by the UK’s Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP), being nominated and named in their ‘CILIP 125 List’, celebrating 125 of the next generation of professionals who are leading across the sector, driving positive change, making a difference and having an impact.  As an active researcher and member of multiple research groups, Jamie is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy in the UK and has written for publication and presented at national and international conferences. He holds his Bachelor's degree in the Arts and two Master degrees in Managing and Leading Intercultural Projects and Library and Information Services Management respectively. Currently he is pursuing his PhD entitled “The interactive potential of individual and team-based characteristics on knowledge boundaries: A situational analysis of international schools”.
