Dr. Hasan Kadhem is a computer science associate professor at the American University of Bahrain, College of Engineering and Computing. With over 22 years of experience in the IT industry, he has made significant contributions across various domains, including academia, research, cybersecurity, software development, professional training, and consultation. Dr. Kadhem earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Tsukuba, Japan, in 2011. His doctoral research focused on database encryption, a field in which he has been recognized with the prestigious Computer Science Chairman Award. He also holds M.Sc. degrees in Information Technology and Computer Security from New York Institute of Technology (NYIT), awarded in 2007, and a B.Sc. in Computer Science from the University of Qatar, received in 2003. Throughout his career, Dr. Kadhem has held diverse roles, including assistant professor, IT & analytics manager, computer specialist, professional IT trainer, and IT consultant. He holds multiple professional certificates, demonstrating his expertise and commitment to staying current in the rapidly evolving field of technology. Dr. Kadhem has been at the forefront of integrating Information and Communication Technology (ICT) into teaching and learning. He has developed and implemented innovative strategies to enhance the educational experience through the use of advanced technologies. His initiatives include the development of interactive learning materials, the use of virtual teaching assistants, and the creation of engaging activities that leverage Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) to improve student engagement and academic achievement. Dr. Kadhem's research interests span Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, web and mobile applications, and E-learning. He is an active researcher, having published numerous scientific papers in international peer-reviewed journals and conferences. His work has been acknowledged with several awards, including best paper, presentation, and distinguished research paper awards.
