Ms. April T. Belarmino is a Science educator at Daraga National High School in Daraga, Albay, where she teaches Science for Junior High School students. She earned her Bachelor of Secondary Education, majoring in Biology, from Bicol University College of Education, followed by a Master of Arts in Biology Education at Bicol University Graduate Studies. Currently, she is pursuing a PhD in Educational Foundations from the same institution. In 2023, April was awarded a Fulbright Distinguished Award in Teaching for International Teachers (Fulbright-DAI), through which she spent time at Indiana University of Pennsylvania as a member of the 2023 cohort. Her inquiry project during this program focused on “Designing Science Enrichment Programs Integrating Global Citizenship Education,” reflecting her commitment to creating inclusive, globally conscious educational experiences. April is also a certified UNESCO-APCEIU Global Citizenship Education (GCED) Advocate, passionate about nurturing responsible learners and promoting a holistic education. She currently serves as the ISEP-Agham Science Enrichment Coordinator and Public Information Officer for the Daraga National High School Faculty Club. As a Fulbright-DAI scholar and GCED advocate, April collaborates with fellow educators to develop Science Enrichment Programs for both secondary and tertiary educators, with a focus on empowering students as global citizens equipped with the values, skills, and attitudes to support sustainable development. Outside the classroom, April is an avid adventurer, music lover, and sports enthusiast. A skilled tennis player, she coached at the Palarong Pambansa in 2015 and continues to officiate matches.
