Lydia Ogden, Global Public Health R&D Policy and External Engagement Leader, Johnson & Johnson


Lydia Ogden leads R&D policy and engagement for Johnson & Johnson’s Global Public Health division and she serves as an officer of the INTREPID Alliance, an industry-led consortium that aims to accelerate progress in discovery and development of new antiviral treatments for future pandemics. Prior to joining J&J in 2022, Lydia directed U.S. and ex-U.S. vaccines policy, partnerships, and government relations for Merck (MSD outside the US and Canada). From August 2017 to May 2019, she led company-wide strategic engagement with international organizations, foundations, institutions, and industry associations; was instrumental in the creation of CEPI; spearheaded Merck’s health security and access efforts; and served as the public policy lead for the company’s Public Policy and Responsibility Council. Before joining Merck, Lydia worked in public health for more than two decades at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, leading domestic and international HIV/AIDS policy and data-driven prevention programs, implementing PEPFAR, serving as the agency’s Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy, and heading the Office of Health Reform following passage of the Affordable Care Act.
