Director of the Division of Communicable Diseases, Environment and Health Robb Butler is a behavioural scientist with over 25 years of international experience working in public health, social protection, and humanitarian assistance. After 17 years working on health and development programmes in Africa, Asia and the Pacific, Mr Butler joined the WHO Regional Office for Europe in 2009 working on strengthening demand for childhood immunization. In 2014 he was appointed Regional Adviser for Vaccine-Preventable Diseases and Immunization. Between 2020 and 2023, Mr Butler served as Executive Director at WHO/Europe and in September 2023, he took up his current position as Director of the Division of Communicable Diseases, Environment and Health taking on a vast portfolio including issues such as antimicrobial resistance and emerging environmental health risks.
