Access to Medicines Foundation

Jo Walton joined the Supervisory Board of the Access to Medicines Foundation in 2025. The Foundation is an independent non-profit organisation, registered as a Dutch charity. The Foundation has for the past 20 plus years driven progress toward equitable access to essential medicines, including vaccines, in low- and middle-income countries.  Their research work ranks leading multi-national companies against relevant criteria covering research, production, access and supply. This work holds boards to account and fosters the spread of best practice amongst both global and local players. Throughout her 40 years as a pharamaceutical analyst, Jo Walton covered major European and international pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, providing comparative analyses on the industry’s largest and most influential players. Jo and her team were highly regarded in the Investment community, and her expert commentary has been featured in major outlets including BBC, the New York Times and the Financial Times. Since the first iteration was published in 2008, Jo has used the Foundation’s Access to Medicine Index reports to inform her insights on market dynamics, investment trends, research and development, shifting pricing dynamics and M&A activity.   Jo graduated from Cambridge University with a degree in Natural Sciences and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education in 1982. Before retiring in the summer of 2025, Jo worked for Lehman Brothers, Credit Suisse and most recently UBS.
