I am trained as clinical virologist at the Erasmus Medical Center in The Netherlands. My scientific background is in influenza antiviral research with publications in high impact journals, including the New England Journal of Medicine. I have a multi-disciplinary and translation research focus ranging from virus discovery to complex host-pathogen interactions. For the last decade, I have worked in clinical and veterinary institutes studying zoonotic pathogens. I believe in a One-Health approach recognizing that human health is tightly connected to the health of animals and the environment.
