Carol Leung is a Group Leader at the NDM Centre for Immuno-Oncology at the University of Oxford. Her research focuses on developing next-generation cancer vaccines designed to elicit robust cytotoxic T-cell responses, while evaluating their safety, efficacy, and underlying mechanisms of action. She has extensive expertise in the preclinical development and translational evaluation of cancer vaccines, with several vaccine programmes having progressed to clinical testing and others currently in preclinical development. Her group is particularly interested in vaccine strategies against Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), a major oncogenic virus linked to multiple tumour types. In addition to therapeutic vaccine development, her lab is exploring vaccines for cancer prevention in high-risk populations and studying immune correlates of protection. Dr. Leung’s work bridges fundamental immunology and translational application, with the ultimate aim of delivering impactful immunotherapeutic solutions for cancer patients.
