Carel du Marchie Sarvaas is Executive Director of HealthforAnimals, the global animal health association. HealthforAnimals represents the top 10 global animal health companies developing and manufacturing veterinary vaccines, parasite control products, diagnostics, antibiotics, digital products, etc. It also represents the interests of 200+ companies in 27 animal health associations around the world – 85% of the global sector. The animal health industry provides value to society by protecting animals, and consequently, humans from diseases. Animal health products keep pets and food-producing animals healthy. Carel is Dutch national, is married, has four children, and holds degrees from the University of Leiden and Johns Hopkins University. Prior to HealthforAnimals, he worked at associations, consultancies and think tanks in Brussels and Washington DC in the food, agriculture, carbon capture, chemicals, and biotech sectors. In his job he engages with WOAH, FAO, WHO, WTO, UNEP, UN, Codex, BMGF, as well as national policy makers and regulators, academia, media and others.
