Dr Julie Ayre is a post-doctoral research fellow at the University of Sydney, supported by an NHMRC Emerging Leader Research Fellowship (2023-2027). She takes a mixed method, person-centred, and multidisciplinary approach that focuses on using digital technology to support health literacy initiatives and improve health equity in our health services. She is passionate about making health information easy to access and understand, and translating research into real-world impact. Dr Ayre is a Senior Academic Advisor to the NSW statewide Health Literacy Hub, which supports health literacy skills development in the local health care workforce. She is scientific advisor for the National Health Literacy Strategy and Associate Editor for the journal Health Literacy and Communication Open.
