Darrel Hegar is Head of Market Operations for GFiber. He is responsible for leading Field Operations and Sales across all GFiber markets. Darrel joined GFiber in October 2020 as the General Manager of the SE Region, where he led field operations and Sales across North Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee and Alabama.  Darrel is a 26 year telecom industry veteran that has taken on progressively more difficult roles. He started his career journey working for MediaOne in Denver, Colorado. He subsequently worked with AT&T Broadband,  Comcast, Time Warner Cable and Charter through a series of mergers. In the early years of Darrel’s career, he held roles in Corporate Strategy, Product Management and Marketing.  Originally from Benton Harbor, Michigan, Darrel graduated from the University of New Mexico with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, where he received scholarships from NASA and the U.S. Patent and Trademarks Office. Darrel completed his Masters in Business Administration at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business. He also completed Executive Leadership training at Harvard Business School, Tuck Business School at Dartmouth and the Anderson School of Management at the University of California at Los Angeles.  Darrel served five years in the United States Air Force. He is a Gulf War veteran with several medals and awards of recognition for his service.
