Omer Faruk Sonmez, Senior Vice President Marketing, Turkish Airlines

Ömer Faruk Sönmez is Senior Vice President of Marketing at Turkish Airlines, where he leads a broad strategic portfolio spanning loyalty, customer experience, analytics and campaign management, business development, customer relations, and call center operations. In this capacity, he leads the airline’s global Miles&Smiles loyalty program and drives an enterprise-wide approach to customer experience, data-driven decision-making, personalization, and commercial growth. In addition to his executive role at Turkish Airlines, Ömer serves as a Member of the Board of Directors of TKPAY (Turkish Airlines Electronic Money and Payment Services Inc.), contributing to the company’s strategic direction and the development of its digital payments and financial services ecosystem. An international aviation executive with more than a decade of leadership experience across multiple markets, Ömer combines commercial expertise with a strong focus on customer strategy, digital transformation, and data-driven growth. Throughout his career, he has led multicultural teams and complex commercial organizations, while driving strategic partnerships, new business opportunities, and transformation initiatives across markets. Prior to his current role, Ömer served as Vice President of Sales for Southern Europe at Turkish Airlines, where he led multi-country commercial operations across key European markets, overseeing teams responsible for more than USD 1.8 billion in annual revenue. During his tenure, he played a key role in business development, strategic partnerships, network expansion, and the transformation of the airline’s distribution strategy, including the adoption of New Distribution Capability (NDC). Earlier in his career, he served as General Manager for Turkish Airlines in Stockholm and Sydney. Ömer holds a Bachelor’s degree from Macquarie University, a Master’s in International Studies from the University of Sydney, and a Master’s in Aviation Management from the University of New South Wales (UNSW).
