Thomas Bartlett, Deputy Director – Faraday Battery Challenge, Innovate UK

Thomas joined Innovate UK in 2020 and is now the Deputy Challenge Director for the £610 million Faraday Battery Challenge (FBC), the UK government’s flagship battery innovation programme. The FBC is working to develop a resilient and globally competitive battery industry in the UK by supporting cutting edge research & innovation, world-class battery facilities, and unlocking the skills and private investment needed to rapidly scale technologies to market. Prior to joining Innovate UK, Thomas gained a DPhil in nano-electrochemistry from Oxford University before going on to work in industry on next generation battery research and scale-up programmes spanning lithium-ion, solid state and lithium sulfur batteries.
