Patrick Bastard, Expert Fellow, Renault

Patrick Bastard Expert Fellow, Renault Group Patrick Bastard granted an engineering degree from Supélec (France), then a PhD in physics sciences and later an accreditation to research (HDR) from Paris University (Saclay). He began his career in 1989, when he joined Schneider Electric to develop digital relays for the protection of electric distribution networks. He joined Supélec in 1992 as a professor, later being appointed as head of the “Energy Systems and Power Electronics” department. After this academic career, Patrick Bastard joined Renault in 2005 with the aim of contributing to the mechatronics embedded systems development. After having held various positions in the field of electronics and electrical engineering systems, he was appointed Engineering VP for Electronics and Advanced Technologies from 2009 to 2013. Thus he contributed to prepare the company for the three automotive major technological revolutions: electric vehicle, connected car and autonomous vehicle. In 2013, Patrick Bastard was appointed Engineering VP in the field of Energy systems, ADAS, Autonomous driving and Electronics Technologies. In 2018, he was appointed VP Research for Renault Group. He was appointed Expert Fellow in 2023, managing the Expertise Community for the whole Renault Group.
