Catherine Newington, ICT Educators Specialist, ACS

Catherine Newington leads The ACS’ ICT Educators program. ​The program supports Australian teachers to implement the Digital Technologies Curriculum. Catherine is a registered teacher with 20 years of teaching experience. ​ She holds a masters degree specialising in education technologies from Monash University. ​She is the co-vice president of DLTV, the Victorian subject association for digital technologies.​ When Catherine is not tinkering with tech, you’ll find her keeping fit through playing field hockey and deadlifting at her local gym.

Tackling cybersecurity in the Australian Curriculum

This session will help teachers unpack the new Privacy and Security strand in the Australian Digital Technologies Curriculum (primary and secondary). Teachers will gain practical ideas, resources, and classroom strategies to help teach these concepts. Participants will be introduced a new ACS microcredential designed to support teachers in this space (secondary only).
