Louisa Lam, Chief Information Officer & University Librarian, Lingnan University

Dr Louisa LAM has been the Chief Information Officer and University Librarian at Lingnan University in Hong Kong since May 2018. She is an accomplished professional with a strong background in information and communication technology (ICT) and library management. Dr Lam completed her Bachelor's Degree in Arts at the University of Hong Kong before pursuing higher education at Aberystwyth University in the United Kingdom. She obtained both her Master's Degree in Information and Library Studies and her Ph.D. in Knowledge Management at Aberystwyth University. With her passion to transform library services with digital technology, Dr Lam furthered her education by obtaining a Master’s Degree in Computer Science from the City University of Hong Kong, solidifying her experience in ICT and the application in academic libraries. With over 20 years of experience in library management and ICT, Dr. Lam has held various leadership roles in the higher education sector. Prior to joining Lingnan University, she served as the Associate Librarian of the Chinese University of Hong Kong Libraries, overseeing the management and strategic planning of the Library's IT infrastructure, services, and applications. Later she was charged to create a new team Research Support and Digital Initiatives to bring the application of digital technologies to the forefront and successfully developed Digital Scholarship services at CUHK Library. In her current role at Lingnan University, Dr Lam plays a pivotal role in shaping the University's technological landscape and the establishment of a user-cantered library that supports research, teaching, and learning. Under her leadership, the University has made significant progress in transforming its library and information services and advancing its digital infrastructure. She is one of the key members in various University’s committees offering her advice on the University administration and management. She has also actively participated in various professional organizations related to information technology and library management, contributing her expertise to conferences, workshops, and seminars. In recognition of her outstanding achievements and contributions to the field of ICT, Dr Lam was awarded the "Outstanding ICT Women Professional Award" in 2020. This prestigious award, presented by the Hong Kong Computer Society, aims to recognize and honour women who have made a significant impact on the ICT industry.
