Katie Mayne, Director of Learning and Innovation at Nishimachi International School Tokyo, is dedicated to fostering innovative, inquiry-driven and concept-based approaches to educational experiences. Central to her educational philosophy is the belief in teachers as facilitators of learning, who encourage deep thinking, exploration, and the proficient use of digital tools. Katie is passionate about engaging students as co-designers in learning experiences, and empowering students to develop transferable skills that are vital to success beyond the walls of the classroom, such as critical thinking, collaboration and character development.
Katie’s career has spanned K-12 international schools in Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, England, and South Africa, where she has been an advocate for cultivating curiosity, creativity and interdisciplinary understanding. Katie holds a Masters of Arts in Education (MA Ed), the National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH), Certificates in School Management and Leadership (CSML), WASC accreditation and a first class honors degree (BMus).
