Joel Yang has more than 10 years of experience in the education sphere designing, managing, and delivering curriculum to students in Higher Education. He oversees the School of InfoComm Technology at Ngee Ann Polytechnic, that trains for both young and adult learners in various aspects such as Software Engineering, Data Science, Cybersecurity, and Immersive Media. As an educator by training, he primarily teaches programming-related modules and has introduced innovative strategies to teach, assess, and provide instantaneous feedback on programming codes to students through technology. Apart from the technical domain, Joel also trains data practitioners to unlock data's power via persuasive storytelling techniques to help generate actionable insights for decision-makers.
Prior to joining Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Joel was a lecturer at School of Computing at the National University of Singapore (NUS), where he received his B.S. (1st Class Honors) and obtained his Ph.D. in Information Systems. His research interests include IT-enabled service innovation, e-government, and healthcare information systems. His work which includes both quantitative and qualitative approaches has appeared in the International Journal of Human Computer Studies, Decision Support Systems and at leading conferences such as the International Conference on Information Systems and the Pacific Asia Conference on Information Systems.
