Atip Asvanund | Executive Director
Digital Council of Thailand

Atip Asvanund, Executive Director, Digital Council of Thailand

Dr Atip is the Executive Director of the Digital Council of Thailand (DCT), where he has helped craft and pass laws and public policies that accelerate Thailand’s digital economy and attract foreign investment — most notably the capital gains tax exemption for investments in Thai startups. He also played a leading role in establishing and managing DCT — created under the Digital Council of Thailand Act, B.E. 2562 — as the nation’s central platform for government-private sector collaboration to spur growth in the digital industry.

He previously served as an executive at a major telecommunications, broadcasting, and digital convergence company, held leadership positions in public organisations, and contributes columns to leading Thai newspapers. He also holds senior executive and advisory roles with private‑sector organisations, including the Charoen Pokphand Group. He is an adjunct faculty member at Thailand’s leading universities, founded a successful internet startup, and has served in political office. He is also a distinguished public speaker with deep expertise across telecommunications, broadcasting, and digital convergence.

Dr Atip earned BA and BS degrees from the University of Chicago and MS and PhD degrees from Carnegie Mellon University on a full scholarship. His doctoral research on social networks and online communities was published in a leading academic journal and received awards at top academic conferences.
