The Hong Kong Teaching Excellence Alliance (HKTEA) was initiated by the Hong Kong University Grants Committee (UGC) in 2018 and officially launched in 2019 to champion teaching excellence in higher education. Comprising core members who are winners and finalists of the UGC Teaching Award from the eight government-funded universities in Hong Kong, HKTEA aims to elevate teaching standards across the higher education sector by sharing and documenting the innovative approaches of outstanding educators, organising professional development opportunities for teaching staff, and fostering a culture that celebrates exemplary teaching practices.
HKTEA’s signature initiatives include the UGC Teaching Ambassadors Series and four dynamic Communities of Practice focusing on timely and critical topics, such as STEM education, interdisciplinary design thinking, support for students with special educational needs, and GenAI.
Committed to advancing pedagogical innovation relevant to contemporary challenges, HKTEA organises workshops featuring local and international speakers, and a biennial Symposium that serves as a platform for exchanging effective teaching practices among tertiary institutions.
