Tom has spent his career building data analysis solutions and scaling teams to tackle cybersecurity, financial crime, and terrorist threats. He co-founded Refute to address the next critical threat to commercial organisations: disinformation. At Refute, Tom and his team help organisations detect and respond to disinformation threats at the speed of the attackers: protecting their reputation, preserving their financial valuation, and preventing threat actors from destabilising their operations.
Before Refute, Tom joined Ripjar in 2017 as an early member, and went on to run its government and cybersecurity business as the company’s headcount grew to 160. As a member of Ripjar’s senior leadership team, he built, sold, and delivered products to large commercial organisations and the public sector.
Prior to that, Tom ran BAE Systems’ national security business in Oman. There, he managed a multinational team building complex solutions to tackle criminal activity. He began his career in UK national security at Detica (later acquired by BAE Systems), focused on counter-terrorism solutions after 9/11 and the July 2015 London attacks. He studied Electronic Engineering at Cambridge University.
