Amanda Williams is Chief Executive Officer of the International Society for Respiratory Viruses (ISRV), a global scientific society dedicated to advancing research, education, collaboration, and public health action across the field of respiratory viruses. She assumed the role of CEO in December 2025 and leads the Society’s strategic development, international partnerships, scientific conferences, educational programmes, governance, membership growth, and financial sustainability initiatives. Amanda brings more than two decades of experience in scientific communications, scholarly publishing, professional education, and international conference management. Prior to joining ISRV, she held senior leadership positions at Springer Nature, where she led global conference and professional education portfolios, including Nature Conferences and Nature Masterclasses. Earlier in her career, she worked at Thomson Reuters, developing programmes that connected researchers, industry leaders, and policymakers worldwide. As CEO of ISRV, Amanda has focused on strengthening the Society’s global reach and long-term sustainability. Her work includes overseeing the Society’s flagship scientific meetings, including Options XIII for the Control of Influenza and other Respiratory Viruses, the International RSV Symposium, and a growing portfolio of educational and special interest group activities. She has also led initiatives to expand membership engagement, diversify organisational income, secure strategic partnerships and grants, and develop evidence-based membership and growth strategies. Amanda is a passionate advocate for global scientific collaboration and equitable access to education. She works closely with academic institutions, public health agencies, industry partners, and international organisations to support the translation of respiratory virus research into policy and practice. She frequently represents ISRV at major international meetings and forums, promoting collaboration across disciplines and regions to address emerging respiratory virus threats.
