Elizabeth de Lange, PhD, is Professor of Predictive Pharmacology at the Division of Systems Pharmacology and Pharmacy of the LACDR (Leiden University). Her group develops predictive (CNS) pharmacokinetic (PK)- pharmacodynamic (PD) relationships in human, in health and disease, mainly using “smart” data. These are produced by highly advanced and strategic in vivo preclinical experiments (such as microdialysis at multiple locations in the CNS). The comparative and integrative design allows elucidation of conditional influences of individual factors to the whole (Mastermind research Approach), which is a crucial basis for translation between species and conditions. One of the highlights is the LeiCNSPK3.0 model that can adequately predict drug distribution into and within multiple compartments of the rat and human CNS. She has >160 publications, provided >170 invited lectures, and has organized >100 conferences/ symposia/courses/workshops. She has had multiple leadership positions in large international organizations (e.g. AAPS), but also on national (NVF) and institute level, and in scientific project (current scientific coordinator of the EU consortium QSPainRelief). On yearly basis 35-50% of her time has been contributed to LACDR teaching She received the AAPS Fellow Award (2013), an Honorary Doctorate in Pharmacy (Uppsala University, 2020), and the prestigious Sheiner lecture lifetime achievement award (ISOP, 2020).
