Aurora Mateos is Founder and General Director of Menkes International (MIa), a charity focused on fighting the rare disease called Menkes. She is an international lawyer (she has been Consultant to United Nations for more than fiftheen years) on environmental law, specially law of the sea, as well as an awarded playwright and novelist (Penguin Random House author). Her plays have been produced internationally and have been the subject of two doctoral thesis, one in Italy and another in France. Following the birth of her son Marco, she worked intensely to start an experimental treatment for his son Marco, whose success was the basis of a current ongoing initiative for providing the experimental treatment for six children, a number which is exspected to enlarge very quick, She holds one PhD in Law and political sciences by the University Menendez Pelayo/Complutense of Madrid and another PhD in economics by the State University on Finance and Economics of Saint Petersburg, Russia.She is author of several technical publications at the UN (FAO and UNESCO) and policy papers.
